Set a deposit limit in under two minutes

A deposit limit caps how much you can put into a wagering account over a day, week or month. Licensed Australian online wagering providers must offer you one when you sign up, and let you change it at any time.

Setting it up

  1. Log in to your account with the provider and open your account settings.
  2. Find the section for limits or responsible gambling.
  3. Choose a period — daily, weekly or monthly.
  4. Enter an amount and save.

Decreases apply straight away. Increases only take effect after a cooling-off period, so a limit can’t be raised on impulse mid-session.

Choosing a number

Start with what you’d comfortably spend on any other night out, and treat it as the cost of entertainment, not an investment. If you’re not sure, pick a lower number — you can always review it later when you’re not in the middle of a session.

Other tools worth using

  • Activity statements show your wins, losses and net position so you can see what you’ve really spent.
  • Take a break options let you pause an account for a set period.
  • BetStop, the National Self-Exclusion Register, blocks you from every licensed Australian online and phone wagering provider at once. Read What is BetStop?
